Little Break

Ok so yeah I've read a lot of books but I have exams in about 7/8 weeks, so I need to start focusing on those. I have to reread books for Literature and all of this stuff, so I'm not going to be reading anything that will be reviewing on here. If you guys have any recommendations for books I should read, comment and tell me and I'll think about getting them. I have a lot of books to get through so know that when I finish exams and have weeks off, you guys will get a lot of reviews.

Review 8- Will Grayson Will Grayson

Ok, so I'm completely biased and I bought this because John Green wrote it and I'm a nerdfighter so yeah I'm a tiny little bit biased. Well I was until I started reading it.

Ok so I knew the set up of this novel, John Green writes a chapter, David Levithan writes a chapter and so on. But I didn't expect the writing styles to be so different. But after getting over my initial shock of David Levithan's lack of capital letters, the book was easy to get into and stuff. And it was worth reading. It was a bit...weird in some places, but it was just brilliantly done. I honestly don't know how else to put it.

Ok so I'm going to pick out the two authors. Starting with John Green. Now I've read Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines and Paper Towns and loved them all. Even got my teacher into reading them. But now, this was just such a brilliant story, and written so well it's amazing. I honestly think it's my favourite piece of writing from him. I loved the chemistry from the characters, I loved the way he wrote it, because though he has a writing style that runs through his novels, there was something a little different in this one, and it was just well done.

Now for David Levithan. I've never read one of his novels before so I had no idea what to expect. and as i said before, when he talks with no capital letter it puts you off a bit but i got over it quickly. Ok, I'll stop with the none capitals. But after you get over that and how he doesn't use speech bubbles and writes in script form, you realise that it's kinda a good way to write. I mean it's telling you what the character thinks, what's going on and what they're saying. It's not like you're reading an account of someone who's wrote it down and things it's like you're actually in their mind. It was amazing to read what it was. And to be honest, I just loved it, I loved the characters, I loved the honesty of the characters and how they reacted to every day life.

Ok so now this is a long review. But I don't care I have all of these ideas about this book stuck in my head and I need to get it out. And it will have a lot of spoilers so for once I'm warning you completely away from them because I WANT YOU TO ENJOY AND READ THIS BOOK!!!!

Ok so Tiny Cooper was amazing, I loved his character, it was such an honest opinion and just an amazingly deep character in the end, something I hadn't been expecting. He had a lot of heart and he was just brilliantly done.

As for John Green's Will Grayson (we'll call him odd Grayson because he has the odd chapters) I love how he was so average. Ok so he had this big and bold friend, but he was so average that he could be anyone. I loved that, brilliantly written. And just everything about his policy to shut up and not care. Brilliant.

Even Grayson was amazing. Depressed and it was just brilliantly done, like it was believable, and like we've all been in one of those states or seen one of those people and we can relate to him in ways that we can relate to Odd Grayson. I loved his character.

Ok so then there was Maura. Bitch. I didn't like her. I mean there are ways to get a man, but lying to him pretending you're a guy it's just weird. I mean I get why she did it I do, but what's the point? If he blatantly doesn't want you though just leave him alone. Enough said.

Tiny Cooper. I want to give this dude a hug lol. He's brilliant. His musical I'd go to see, his characteristics are brilliant, and he just seems like a fun person to be around.

Also the end. Oh my god I've never sobbed so much good sobbing at a book. Just a brilliant ending.

Overall rating- 9 out of 10 (only not ten so it doesn't seem like I'm REALLY biased lol)
Would I read anything else from this author- I would, I might pick up some of David Levithan's other books. And I will pick up every single John Green book.
Anything Else- This book is brilliant, but definitely not a book for younger kids.

Review 7- The Forest of Hands & Teeth

Ok so I finished this two days ago, just lost the sheet that had the review on. So here it is!

Ok so from the blurb this sounded like a brilliant book. But overall, I found it...eh. I can't say good, I can't say terrible, but it was, just, yeah.

Ok, so I loved the concept of Mary & Travis, but it was a very unsure love story. I didn't like Cass, she annoyed me, very whiney, and in the end when she was like 'I don't care about Travis or Harry, I just want to give Jacob a good up bringing'...uhm what? You're in the middle of a zombie apocalypse love, so the chances of him surviving are very very slim. I also didn't like Jed for the first half of the book, when he was all 'you let our mother turn into one of them' I thought he was a little bit harsh on her. And Sister Tabitha. I thought she was really harsh, but then she died trying to save people, so that's ok. I actually disliked a lot of the characters.

The thing about Mary always dreaming about the ocean was nice, but I expected her to react differently when she finally got there. It just seemed like she could have been a bit more excited or something.

The story was good, I think it was a good start off. The only thing I didn't like about the actual plot was it just seemed to have something missing. Like the characters weren't fully fleshed out.

Overall rating- 4.5 out of 10
Would I read anything else from this author- I don't think so, the book was lacking something and I've done the mistake of trying to reread something by the same author and been highly let down again.
Anything else- If people like it, fair enough, but my opinion is that the book wasn't for me.

Thanks for reading guys x.

Review 6- The Vampire Diaries Vol. 2 The Fury and The Reunion

Ok so to review this book I have to review it as the two separate books. There will be MEGA spoilers so if you haven’t read it please do not read this review.

The Fury

Ok, so I actually really enjoyed this book. It was really well done. I loved the twist at the end, Katherine being the Other Power? Brilliant! I really loved it. I thought it was a brilliant, just really well done and fantastic, and yeah. Not much else I can say about it.

Now, as for the end, I really liked that too. It’s cool that in the end, Elena died, I thought it was really done well, and I thought Bonnie’s ending to the book was fantastic, just, the way it was finished off with a diary entry. I just thought that The Fury was an amazing book, everything was just done well, and the characters were good and they were done well because the way they stuck to their characteristic.

The Reunion

I wasn’t so keen on this. I thought it was the obvious thing to do, bringing Elena back from the dead. I honestly thought that it was just…expected. Now as for Klaus, I wasn’t really keen on it. It seemed that it was something that she had to do to give them a happy ending more or less.

I thought that all of it was really badly done. I really didn’t like it. I just thought it was something that they tried to do to get it all over and done with, nothing else. I know that she technically had to make it a happy ending because if she didn’t it would disappoint a few people, I just thought that they coulda left it at the defeating of Klaus and then nothing about Elena coming back.

Overall for the both books, I liked how they finished off the main story, and then the second part of it where Elena wasn’t there was literally just to keep people happy, because I didn’t think it had ANYTHING to do with the previous story. I mean yeah you can have a new series, like the Vampire Diaries the Return, but I think she didn’t have to make it like she did. I really just didn’t like it. It annoyed me.

Overall Rating- 5 out of 10

Would I read something else by the author- Yeah I would, thinking about get the other books of the series.

Anything Else- Nope

Thanks for reading this guys x

Review 5- The Vampire Diaries Vol. 1- The Awakening & The Struggle

Ok so I did it again, I really can't help it. I went from reading Fallen, to reading The Vampire Lestat, to reading this. And to be honest, I probably won't say 'next review' any more because I keep changing my books.

So I've read these two before, when I was thirteen, but I rebought it forgetting I'd read them. Silly me. Oh well here's the review.

Overall I'm really liking the story. I love how the books seem to flow, one into the other, there are no breaks in the narrative, where one ends the next one begins. A lot of stories don't do that, so it's definitely a refreshing thing to see. I love the idea of Stefan and Damon. I think their loathing in the book is done really well. It's definitely something that you can understand why and the author definitely justifies it.

There is one big thing in this book that I do not like though. That's, I'm sorry to say it, Elena. Yes, I'm not too keen on the main character. She really bugs me how she twists everyone into making them do her bidding so to speak. It's really annoying, because you expect most of the main female characters to be really weak and defenceless in vampire novels, and ok so it's good that L. J. Smith tried to break that cycle, but does this girl have to be so in your face about it?

Apart from that. I do honestly like this book. It's got flare, it's got a twist, it's got all of these really cool parts to it that you don't expect, and it's just a really good read. Side note, yes I know that it's definitely a trash vampire romance novel, and yes I know vampires are beginning to be overdone and everything, but there's just something about them that makes me wanna watch more and more of them. Definitely a fantastic idea though.

Overall Rating- 7.5 out of 10
Would I read something else from this author- I am reading the next one in the series now just to get it out of my system.
Anything Else- Don't judge me for my obsession with vampires.
