Review 9- The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner

Yeah I'm back and I'm reviewing what is probably going to be an insanely controversial as I know a lot of people have very strong views on Mrs Meyer's writing. But I will review it. I needed this book as I do feel some comfort going into a world I know about and love so much, and with the day I had yesterday, trust me when I say I really did need this book.

Ok so I had always been interested in Bree. I found her a really fascinating character and what she went through which we see in this book made the book really fun to read. So yes it was set in Eclipse and that is my favourite book, and I thought it was interesting to see the world at that time and the characters from the perspective of someone other than Bella. Bree gave it a brand new edge and made me think about the other characters at the end of this short story differently.

For example, I adore Jasper, like if I could put him on toast I would have Jasper-on-toast every night for supper (random I know). But I don't think I've ever thought about Jasper without any restraint. And when he was talking to Bree, forcing her to keep her eyes closed in such a menacing voice, it was just a shock. Something I didn't expect at all. She gave different character's sides that the innocent and vulnerable Bella doesn't see, and though Bree is younger, because this girl's a vampire we see a lot more of the harsh truths.

I felt for her when it came to Diego. It was doomed, we could all see it coming, not just because if we'd read the books before we knew Bree died (if you haven't read Eclipse I'm not expecting you to read this story either) but it was just....something that was obvious I guess. You just expected it. But he did remind me a lot of Emmett so I think Stephenie Meyer should think about not changing slight bits of different characters and changing their names.

Freaky Fred was awesome. Really liked the idea of him. And the end I think that even though Bree didn't realise that she wasn't going to come back when she went after Diego, I think Fred knew Diego was dead and Bree wasn't going to come back either.

I really liked the idea of Riley's character, though he was very angry a lot he was very fierce and more dynamic than he was in Eclipse. I also loved how Victoria wasn't known at all to the 'kids' and them not knowing about the sunlight or anything it was brilliant.

Altogether I think if you like the Twilight Saga you will like this book. I think that I may get a lot of nasty comments about this review but I honestly don't care. This book was what I needed to cheer me up so I am glad I read it.

Overall rating- 8 out of 10
