Review 14- I Can See You

Ok so this will be a bit patchy, I picked this book up on the 18th of May (I know because I bought it on my birthday…haha) and I just finished reading it today (25th of July). But I must admit this is one of my favourite authors that I’ve read for a while.

Ok so it’s a crime novel, which isn’t usually my style, but I picked it up and fell in love with it, reading about 150 pages a day (which I couldn’t do at the time). The book follows Eve Wilson, Noah Webster and a bunch of other cops and the killer (not gonna say who but believe me, it was a shock when it was revealed).

I want to first address Noah & Eve’s little love interest. I loved it. I’m usually hooked instantly on the love interest or hate it with a passion. I thought this one was soooooooo cute. She didn’t want him to love her because of all these emotions, and he wanted her so badly that it hurt or whatever. It was soo cute, it was so nice to see them grow and get together.

I loved the idea of how the killer picked his victims. Going onto a game called Shadowland, going through Eve’s study, getting everything together until it was all done, I was actually amazed at how well thought out it was.

I also loved the idea of the dresses, shoes, makeup, hanging (which is how he staged the murder to look like a suicide) seriously I was blown away by it. It was just a shock to the system that people found them. And with their eyes glued open? Tortured with their fears? I was in love with these ideas.

Then there was the way that the killer left the victim’s avatars in the game, where when they were found out they were found hung in their homes in Shadowland, exactly how they’d been found IRL.

Characters? Ok so the first one I need to talk about is Eve. Now, from what I’ve gathered I came into a book that links back to another book, which is where Eve came from. She’s a broken woman who was left for dead in a previous book by Karen Rose (which I shall be buying even though I know what happens, I want to read more of Eve when she was young and reckless) I liked that idea because it was like ‘here’s what a character did afterwards’ and even if you hadn’t read the previous book. It was brilliant.

Then Noah, I loved how he was portrayed, not perfect, but still with this manly and courageous. I don’t really know what to say about the characters, you guys just need to read it! Please?

Review 13- The Lunatic Cafe

Yes second day, second book done, and it’s barely the afternoon (on a role woot!). It’s the fourth one in the Anita Blake series so again if you don’t want to know anything, please don’t read.

I loved the plot of this one, well the love interest plot. Jean-Claude actually trying to woo Anita instead of forcing himself on her. I also love the way that Anita isn’t sure about Richard and is like ‘Should I shouldn’t I?’ I think she should personally, but I don’t know if Richard will thing of her in the same way after what she did at the end.

Ok so it was very round about crazy. Kasper (I thought he was a nice person), was the biggest twist I’d seen. I was sad to see him the culprit for the shifters disappearances, it was a big shock. And the police (I hate the ones who did it) And Dolf and Zabrowski (spelling? I don’t have the book with me so sorry if I spelt it wrong) got hurt I got really upset when I found that out.

Ok so let’s get on with the characters as per usual.

It’s nice to see a softer side of Anita, the one you see with Richard. But having said that, I’m glad she continued to be the person she always was with the way she stuck to her guns (no pun intended) and everything. And I loved how she was all bad ass when she stuck the knife into what’s his name’s ‘do-da’. I did gag a bit though, I can’t deny that.

What about Richard? I kinda like him but I think he’s got to realise that Anita is who she is and isn’t going to change. Then he’d be perfect! Unfortunately not everything should be perfect in a book, and this is the imperfect part. I do love him though, and I hope that he will keep Anita close to him, whether or not he does I shall have to find out (aka I really want the next book!).

Jean-Claude’s evil side is truly evil, I was amazed at it. The way he just was ruthless with Gretchen and the other vampire, Robert was it? I can’t remember (I fail) just it was scary to see it. I mean I liked it because it shows you he’s not all sugar and cream. But still you know?

I don’t know what else to say really, I mean the plot was crazy this time and I think it’s easier for you guys to go and read it over me trying to explain it and failing miserably.

Review 12- The Circus of the Damned

Ok, so I’m sorry that it’s been a while since I last wrote a review, but as of late I’ve been doing a lot of superficial writing over reading (aka I’ve been writing crap that I’m not ever going to use for anything other than fun) but, today I’m on holiday (and this will be up later as I have no internet) and I finished a book (finally). Sorry for the brackets, I don’t know why there are so many.

So, I read book three of the Anita Blake series, if you don’t want any spoilers I’d stop reading this now because I promise you it’ll have spoilers.

Yet again, Laurell K. Hamilton pulled out a pretty amazing book. It had enough kick butt action, the same love twist (and yes, I love Anita’s distaste for the one she’s obviously going to get with later on in the series) and with a lot more awesome twists that you can’t wait to be revealed.

This time Anita is faced with a foe that she doesn’t fully understand, ok she understands it but you know what I mean if you’ve read the book. So we find out another master vampire is in town and Anita has to find him and stop him before the blood baths continue. Fun.

Characters? Alright, Anita first. Anita is as pissy as usual, but now I think we’re seeing more of a bad ass side to her. In the last two, we see her doing her job, in this one she does things for revenge and for her own skin. Yay Anita!

What else can I say about her? If you want an introduction to her, you’ll have to read the first book, I’m sorry but that’s the only way that I can tell you to get to know her, she’s too complex really to explain, especially in the middle of a series (sorry, not the middle, that’s book ten or something).

We then have Jean Claude. He’s slimy to me. Really, it’s like ugh, he won’t give up and then he lets things get waaaaaay too out of hand before he stops it. I just don’t like him as a character. No, I lie, I like him, I just don’t like the way he uses people the way he does. Granted he’s the master of the city meaning he has power but still I have stuff against him.

Then Richard’s introduced, yay for him, I mean yes he’s a werewolf, but you kinda knew it was coming, and that was good. He was sweet too, and it was like ‘awww give me a hug;. Well kinda. But he’s a lot more down to earth and doesn’t force anything onto Anita, unlike a previously spoken about vampire.

Alejandro (not the Lady Gaga song) was pretty cool too. It wasn’t like he was like the other crazy master vampires, but he gave Anita back her freedom and stuff. I liked him, a lot. Well, more than most of the other vampires in the series.

And then there was Edward. No not the sparkly vampire (I know people don’t like him but I do but let’s not go onto twilight). Edward in this series is actually a vampire hunter. I know it’s weird isn’t it? But Edward is cute and stuff and even though I like Richard I kinda want Anita and him to have something more going on because he obviously likes her since he didn’t torture her like he said he would.

Overall? I liked it, I think that it’s a good series and I have the next one ready for me to read as soon as I want to. So yeah I think I’ll enjoy this, I hope you guys liked it, and you’ll probably see more than one uploaded quickly since you know I have no internet and a lot of spare time and about ten books with me.

Review 11- The Name of the Wind

Ok so this was a pretty good book, it's not my favourite genre and I don't often read books like this, but I have to say altogether it was a good read. Not my favourite book but still.

Ok so it follows the life of Kvothe, and him explaining his story to 'The Chronicler'. It's basically the start of his life story. It talks about his early years and from the start it's pretty sweet. I actually love the parallels between Kvothe and Kote (The same character)

My favourite characters are between Bast and Deanna. I loved this love story that seems doomed but everlasting (That's Deanna with Kvothe, not Deanna with Bast). And Bast seemed pretty awesome.

I can't say much about it because it was a rush book. I liked it but it's not a book that's going to completely stick in my mind you know? I have to say I loved how the author began and ended with the same passage, it made the book so much more intense because what he wrote about was good at the start, but it was powerful at the end, you understood it more fully and it kinda made you think and want to read the next book.

In conclusion (yeah I know sorry for the terribly short review they will get better soon) I liked how the author handled it, it's a book I'd give another go at, but I think if I read it again I'll probably slow down the pace so that I can enjoy it and not just devour it.

Overall rating- 7 out of 10
Would I read anything else by this author- I will probably buy the next one when it's out yes
Anything else- nope!

Thanks for reading guys! x

Review 10- Clive Barker's Books of Blood Volumes 1-3 Story 1- The Book of Blood

Ok so I came by this book at Christmas and had to buy it because I'd seen a film that was based on one of the short stories in this book. So I'm going to give you an overview of each story as I read it, though these will be scattered around as I'm only going to read one short story per week or so and read other books throughout.

Ok so The Book of Blood is basically the opening story, telling us about the stories we'll read throughout the book. It's talking about a Mary Florescu, Reg Fuller and Simon McNeal. Basically (as I can't really tell you much of it as the plot was very simple and very short being a short story) it explains as to how McNeal became a 'book of blood'. It talks about highways and passages to the dead and all of this.

That's all I can say really. It's a good opener to what should be some interesting stories. Sorry this is very short but the story is a short one and it isn't much of a story more like a prologue to the other stories. Hope you like it!

Thanks for reading guys! x

Review 9- The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner

Yeah I'm back and I'm reviewing what is probably going to be an insanely controversial as I know a lot of people have very strong views on Mrs Meyer's writing. But I will review it. I needed this book as I do feel some comfort going into a world I know about and love so much, and with the day I had yesterday, trust me when I say I really did need this book.

Ok so I had always been interested in Bree. I found her a really fascinating character and what she went through which we see in this book made the book really fun to read. So yes it was set in Eclipse and that is my favourite book, and I thought it was interesting to see the world at that time and the characters from the perspective of someone other than Bella. Bree gave it a brand new edge and made me think about the other characters at the end of this short story differently.

For example, I adore Jasper, like if I could put him on toast I would have Jasper-on-toast every night for supper (random I know). But I don't think I've ever thought about Jasper without any restraint. And when he was talking to Bree, forcing her to keep her eyes closed in such a menacing voice, it was just a shock. Something I didn't expect at all. She gave different character's sides that the innocent and vulnerable Bella doesn't see, and though Bree is younger, because this girl's a vampire we see a lot more of the harsh truths.

I felt for her when it came to Diego. It was doomed, we could all see it coming, not just because if we'd read the books before we knew Bree died (if you haven't read Eclipse I'm not expecting you to read this story either) but it was just....something that was obvious I guess. You just expected it. But he did remind me a lot of Emmett so I think Stephenie Meyer should think about not changing slight bits of different characters and changing their names.

Freaky Fred was awesome. Really liked the idea of him. And the end I think that even though Bree didn't realise that she wasn't going to come back when she went after Diego, I think Fred knew Diego was dead and Bree wasn't going to come back either.

I really liked the idea of Riley's character, though he was very angry a lot he was very fierce and more dynamic than he was in Eclipse. I also loved how Victoria wasn't known at all to the 'kids' and them not knowing about the sunlight or anything it was brilliant.

Altogether I think if you like the Twilight Saga you will like this book. I think that I may get a lot of nasty comments about this review but I honestly don't care. This book was what I needed to cheer me up so I am glad I read it.

Overall rating- 8 out of 10
Would I read anything else by this author- Yes
Anything else- I need to go clean my room then onto The Name of the Wind!

Thanks for reading guys! x

Review 8- Will Grayson Will Grayson

Ok, so I'm completely biased and I bought this because John Green wrote it and I'm a nerdfighter so yeah I'm a tiny little bit biased. Well I was until I started reading it.

Ok so I knew the set up of this novel, John Green writes a chapter, David Levithan writes a chapter and so on. But I didn't expect the writing styles to be so different. But after getting over my initial shock of David Levithan's lack of capital letters, the book was easy to get into and stuff. And it was worth reading. It was a bit...weird in some places, but it was just brilliantly done. I honestly don't know how else to put it.

Ok so I'm going to pick out the two authors. Starting with John Green. Now I've read Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines and Paper Towns and loved them all. Even got my teacher into reading them. But now, this was just such a brilliant story, and written so well it's amazing. I honestly think it's my favourite piece of writing from him. I loved the chemistry from the characters, I loved the way he wrote it, because though he has a writing style that runs through his novels, there was something a little different in this one, and it was just well done.

Now for David Levithan. I've never read one of his novels before so I had no idea what to expect. and as i said before, when he talks with no capital letter it puts you off a bit but i got over it quickly. Ok, I'll stop with the none capitals. But after you get over that and how he doesn't use speech bubbles and writes in script form, you realise that it's kinda a good way to write. I mean it's telling you what the character thinks, what's going on and what they're saying. It's not like you're reading an account of someone who's wrote it down and things it's like you're actually in their mind. It was amazing to read what it was. And to be honest, I just loved it, I loved the characters, I loved the honesty of the characters and how they reacted to every day life.

Ok so now this is a long review. But I don't care I have all of these ideas about this book stuck in my head and I need to get it out. And it will have a lot of spoilers so for once I'm warning you completely away from them because I WANT YOU TO ENJOY AND READ THIS BOOK!!!!

Ok so Tiny Cooper was amazing, I loved his character, it was such an honest opinion and just an amazingly deep character in the end, something I hadn't been expecting. He had a lot of heart and he was just brilliantly done.

As for John Green's Will Grayson (we'll call him odd Grayson because he has the odd chapters) I love how he was so average. Ok so he had this big and bold friend, but he was so average that he could be anyone. I loved that, brilliantly written. And just everything about his policy to shut up and not care. Brilliant.

Even Grayson was amazing. Depressed and it was just brilliantly done, like it was believable, and like we've all been in one of those states or seen one of those people and we can relate to him in ways that we can relate to Odd Grayson. I loved his character.

Ok so then there was Maura. Bitch. I didn't like her. I mean there are ways to get a man, but lying to him pretending you're a guy it's just weird. I mean I get why she did it I do, but what's the point? If he blatantly doesn't want you though just leave him alone. Enough said.

Tiny Cooper. I want to give this dude a hug lol. He's brilliant. His musical I'd go to see, his characteristics are brilliant, and he just seems like a fun person to be around.

Also the end. Oh my god I've never sobbed so much good sobbing at a book. Just a brilliant ending.

Overall rating- 9 out of 10 (only not ten so it doesn't seem like I'm REALLY biased lol)
Would I read anything else from this author- I would, I might pick up some of David Levithan's other books. And I will pick up every single John Green book.
Anything Else- This book is brilliant, but definitely not a book for younger kids.

Review 7- The Forest of Hands & Teeth

Ok so I finished this two days ago, just lost the sheet that had the review on. So here it is!

Ok so from the blurb this sounded like a brilliant book. But overall, I found it...eh. I can't say good, I can't say terrible, but it was, just, yeah.

Ok, so I loved the concept of Mary & Travis, but it was a very unsure love story. I didn't like Cass, she annoyed me, very whiney, and in the end when she was like 'I don't care about Travis or Harry, I just want to give Jacob a good up bringing'...uhm what? You're in the middle of a zombie apocalypse love, so the chances of him surviving are very very slim. I also didn't like Jed for the first half of the book, when he was all 'you let our mother turn into one of them' I thought he was a little bit harsh on her. And Sister Tabitha. I thought she was really harsh, but then she died trying to save people, so that's ok. I actually disliked a lot of the characters.

The thing about Mary always dreaming about the ocean was nice, but I expected her to react differently when she finally got there. It just seemed like she could have been a bit more excited or something.

The story was good, I think it was a good start off. The only thing I didn't like about the actual plot was it just seemed to have something missing. Like the characters weren't fully fleshed out.

Overall rating- 4.5 out of 10
Would I read anything else from this author- I don't think so, the book was lacking something and I've done the mistake of trying to reread something by the same author and been highly let down again.
Anything else- If people like it, fair enough, but my opinion is that the book wasn't for me.

Thanks for reading guys x.

Review 6- The Vampire Diaries Vol. 2 The Fury and The Reunion

Ok so to review this book I have to review it as the two separate books. There will be MEGA spoilers so if you haven’t read it please do not read this review.

The Fury

Ok, so I actually really enjoyed this book. It was really well done. I loved the twist at the end, Katherine being the Other Power? Brilliant! I really loved it. I thought it was a brilliant, just really well done and fantastic, and yeah. Not much else I can say about it.

Now, as for the end, I really liked that too. It’s cool that in the end, Elena died, I thought it was really done well, and I thought Bonnie’s ending to the book was fantastic, just, the way it was finished off with a diary entry. I just thought that The Fury was an amazing book, everything was just done well, and the characters were good and they were done well because the way they stuck to their characteristic.

The Reunion

I wasn’t so keen on this. I thought it was the obvious thing to do, bringing Elena back from the dead. I honestly thought that it was just…expected. Now as for Klaus, I wasn’t really keen on it. It seemed that it was something that she had to do to give them a happy ending more or less.

I thought that all of it was really badly done. I really didn’t like it. I just thought it was something that they tried to do to get it all over and done with, nothing else. I know that she technically had to make it a happy ending because if she didn’t it would disappoint a few people, I just thought that they coulda left it at the defeating of Klaus and then nothing about Elena coming back.

Overall for the both books, I liked how they finished off the main story, and then the second part of it where Elena wasn’t there was literally just to keep people happy, because I didn’t think it had ANYTHING to do with the previous story. I mean yeah you can have a new series, like the Vampire Diaries the Return, but I think she didn’t have to make it like she did. I really just didn’t like it. It annoyed me.

Overall Rating- 5 out of 10

Would I read something else by the author- Yeah I would, thinking about get the other books of the series.

Anything Else- Nope

Thanks for reading this guys x

Review 5- The Vampire Diaries Vol. 1- The Awakening & The Struggle

Ok so I did it again, I really can't help it. I went from reading Fallen, to reading The Vampire Lestat, to reading this. And to be honest, I probably won't say 'next review' any more because I keep changing my books.

So I've read these two before, when I was thirteen, but I rebought it forgetting I'd read them. Silly me. Oh well here's the review.

Overall I'm really liking the story. I love how the books seem to flow, one into the other, there are no breaks in the narrative, where one ends the next one begins. A lot of stories don't do that, so it's definitely a refreshing thing to see. I love the idea of Stefan and Damon. I think their loathing in the book is done really well. It's definitely something that you can understand why and the author definitely justifies it.

There is one big thing in this book that I do not like though. That's, I'm sorry to say it, Elena. Yes, I'm not too keen on the main character. She really bugs me how she twists everyone into making them do her bidding so to speak. It's really annoying, because you expect most of the main female characters to be really weak and defenceless in vampire novels, and ok so it's good that L. J. Smith tried to break that cycle, but does this girl have to be so in your face about it?

Apart from that. I do honestly like this book. It's got flare, it's got a twist, it's got all of these really cool parts to it that you don't expect, and it's just a really good read. Side note, yes I know that it's definitely a trash vampire romance novel, and yes I know vampires are beginning to be overdone and everything, but there's just something about them that makes me wanna watch more and more of them. Definitely a fantastic idea though.

Overall Rating- 7.5 out of 10
Would I read something else from this author- I am reading the next one in the series now just to get it out of my system.
Anything Else- Don't judge me for my obsession with vampires.

Review 4- Strange Angels

Ok so I know I said that I was going to read The Lovely Bones next, but I tried and it's a very heavy thing and right now heavy is definitely not what I want. So I had a book that I wanted to read and decided I would read it now. It's the first in the Dru Anderson series by Lili St. Crow.

Now I have a warning for people reading this book. On the back I saw the words 'Dad? Zombie. Mom? Long gone. Me? Well that's the strange part' or something along those lines. And from this I thought it would be about zombies or something like that. I've been trying to get away from vampires and werewolves because...well let's just say I read a lot about vampires and werewolves. But as I continued through the pages, what came up. Werewulfen. Yeah that's what they're called. But I was like 'Oh it's ok there won't be vampires at least' oh how wrong I was. They began to talk about 'Suckers'. I fell into the vampires and werewolves trap once more.

Ok don't get me wrong, I do like this book. I'm not saying that I didn't, I am just warning you about that part. I will also say that the book is very similar to Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy series, and from what I gather the two of them are friends and go and do book signings together and such so when I found that out the two author's book styles didn't seem so strange.

Now onto the content. I loved Dru's character. She was fighty, she was funny, but she was still vulnerable. I have read so many books where the fifteen year olds or the sixteen year olds or whatever their age is, and they're super strong and they fight and they know what's going on. With Dru, she knew how to fight, she knew survival tactics, but when her dad died (not a spoiler, it says it on the back of the book the first two words) she didn't know what to do and she had a few break downs. FINALLY an author who knows that teenaged girls aren't always strong! I know you can find a lot of books where the girl isn't strong, but in horror/dark fantasy etc it is a very hard thing to find.

Now another character I loved was Graves. Strange name I know but he was funny. 'Don't worry Dru, first one's free' he cracked me up that even after she'd tied him up and put a gun to his head he asked her if she felt him up and told her that he knew she'd be into the bondage type stuff. He cracked me up through this book. Seriously hilarious.

Now for the plot. I wasn't amazed by the plot, as I've said, I was expecting it to be a lot different. It's not and it was still a good read but you know. it's like drinking diluted juice thinking it's the orange one and it turning out to be peach. Yeah I've done that before.

I'm not gonna do a spoiler version any more, I'm just gonna say that I think that how Dru handled it was stupid, but it stuck in with her character which is good. I think that Christophe (yeah, I didn't spell Christopher wrong his name's Christophe) is an ass (and that's surprising, I normally go for the vampire) and I honestly think that a lot of people will like this book.

Overall Rating- 6.5/7 out of 10
Would I read something else by this author- I would love to read Betrayed which is the next one in the series
Anything Else- Nope
Next Review- Probably (Don't hold my word for it though) Fallen by Lauren Kate

Thanks for reading guys x

Review 3- Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian

Wow. I've finished Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian. And just wow. Amazing book, really cool. Definitely a good ending to the series.

Ok so I have found with a lot of really good book series that I've read, have been a let down on the last book. I'm sure everyone out there can agree they've had that experience with a book series they've read too.

But this one was definitely a good way to end, it ended so that it could be come back to, but it could be left alone by itself and still stand as a really good ending to the series.

Now the action in this was amazing, and the twists were terrific! I swear I cried three times at least at this book. The book had enough in it that you would think that it could stand alone, but it could also work as a start of a continuation of the series or maybe even start a new series.

Now for the spoilers, and be warned these are HUGE spoilers so if you haven't read the book before you read this BE WARNED!!!!!

Ok so the fact that he tied in the fact of Rachel and how she could have gotten together with Percy, but instead of that I loved how she decided to become the new oracle. That was genius, and then when she said the new big prophecy, and everyone freaked out, very cool. And very good for how that could lead to another book.

Now the fact that Annabeth and Percy FINALLY kissed properly, was fantastic. I mean, YAY! Very excited about that. I loved how Percy admitted that he didn't take the honour of becoming a God because mostly he didn't want to leave Annabeth. Awwww! That was something seriously cute!

I loved the line about Peanut butter, Tyson is amazing, one of my favourite characters of this series!

Grover was hilarious as normal, and I thought it was predictable that Luke became the good guy taken over by a bad guy and in the end he showed he was the good guy. Yawn.

Ok now as a full book I adored it, it was fantastic. Really and truly.

Overall rating: 9.5 out of 10

Would I read another book by this author- I am getting excited about the series about Pharaohs and I will definitely be excited for that.

Anything else- Nope!

Next review- The Lovely Bones

Overview of Percy Jackson and the Titan's Curse & Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth

Overview of my last two books.

Ok so I've read Percy Jackson and the Titan's Curse and Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth, but I have not had the time to write reviews. I will write very small overviews of them, but don't expect much. I probably won't remember half of it.

Percy Jackson and the Titan's Curse

Ok, so this was really good from start to end. I loved Artemis and her hate for Apollo, I loved the idea that they had to hold up the sky, I loved the bitching between Thalia and Percy. It was a good way they strung it all together.

Slight spoilers from here.

I cried at Zoe's death. Seriously cried. I didn't expect to cry at this book, so I was very surprised when I cried like I did. I loved the random Rachel in it and I was thinking 'why would Rick Riordan put a random mortal into it' but I loved it anyway. I LOVED NICO AND BIANCA AND THEIR BACK STORY! I mean I wanted to see a son/daughter of Hades' and to see it was amazing.

Overall Rating- 9 out of 10

Would I read something else by the author- If I find out he's got another series, I will definitely be reading it

Anything else- Not that I can think of.

Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth

The idea of the labyrinth is probably one of the most iconic images in Greek mythology, whether that's about King Minos trapping Daedalus there or Theseus killing the Minotaur, everyone knows something about the labyrinth. So when I read this, I was very excited.

Slight spoilers from here.

The idea that Daedalus was in Camp Half Blood was cool, I thought it was a clever idea. I liked how they brought Rachel back into it and I loved how Poseidon came to Percy's birthday. Basically, all of the book was pretty awesome. You know when you can't think of anything? Yeah that's me right now.

Overall Rating- 8.5 out of 10

Would I read something else by the author- See above

Anything else- Aphrodite is a bitch on Percy

Next Review- Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian (yes almost finished the series) A proper review next time I promise!

Review 2- Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters

Ok so yeah I read the second one, my friend is reading it too so I had to. This book was really good, probably better than the first one. Again you can tell the book is aimed at a younger audience, but it is still enjoyable.

Now, I'm sure everyone knows a couple of things about Greek Mythology without even realising it, and when you start reading this that mythology begins to come back to you. I realise that the last one I didn't actually really review it, which is why I will properly now.

The book follows Percy Jackson and his friends as they go back to Camp Half-Blood. We have an addition to them called Tyson. Now when the kids get back to camp, they find it under attack, and a very important tree that is dying (I'm not going to tell you what the tree means because that would be bad if you haven't read the first one). So Percy and his friend Annabeth find a way to get it, and find their friend.

And by the way, after you've read the last line, you want to read the next book as soon as possible, trust me.

Spoilers from here on!

Now, Hermes. I loved him, and his snakes. I found it really funny to see the way that Rick Riordan made him. And when he brought back Thalia, oh my gods. Wow amazing idea. Now as for Percy himself, he's grown up a bit, but he's still not the brightest star in the sky.

I loved the idea of the sea of monsters. And I liked that Annabeth listened to the Syrens when they were singing. It was very clever. And Percy turning into a Guinea Pig, if you've read it you probably wanted to slap him, I did.

I loved how Luke was portrayed again, and how Annabeth wasn't sure if Thalia would follow Luke's ideas or Annabeths. And Grover in a wedding dress, that had me seriously cracking up. Sooooo funny.

Overall Rating- 8.5 out of 10.

Would I read something else by the author- As soon as I've finished this review I'm reading the next one.

Film- I'm not sure if I want this to turn into a film because I'd be scared they messed it up, because for a small book it was filled with adventure.

Anything else- Sigh the laughs in this book lol.

Next Review- Definitely Percy Jackson and the Titan's Curse!

Review 1- Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

Ok, so the first thing I'm going to say is that you can tell the age that this book is written for. The way it's written is very good and it was a good book, but you can tell that it's meant for the 9-13 year olds more or less.

Having said that I'm not saying I didn't like it. I really liked it, it was very well paced and it had a lot of fun and adventure and everything like that. I loved the chemistry between the main three characters I really did. And Chiron was cool too.

But I will say there was a bit of predictability in the story. Now I'm going to go into spoilers so don't read this go down to the rating.

The most predictable part was Luke for me. As soon as Luke gave Percy the shoes I knew something wasn't right, and I knew that Luke would be the friend to betray Percy. And that was pretty sad because Luke seemed like a pretty cool guy.

I thought that the whole idea of bringing the Titans back through Luke and Ares was a fantastic idea, I thought that the idea that Zeus wasn't as nice as he seems to be on the Disney version of Hercules was a very good idea, because let's face it he kinda punishes a lot of people in the myths.

Overall Rating- 7.5 out of 10.
Would I read something else by the author- Yes, I'm ready to read the next one soon.
Film- The film looks very good and I will go see it.
Anything else- The book has made me want to get back into my love for Greek Mythology.
Next Review- Either Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters or The Lovely Bones.

Thanks for reading this guys x

Welcome

Ok so this is my first blog on here and guess what the whole blog is going to be about? Yup. Book reviews. Ok so it's nothing much it's just going to be my personal opinion on the books that I have read so I don't expect everyone who reads it to take my word for it or say that they love it too. Opinions are opinions and I love books. So if you wanna continue reading please do, this one doesn't actually have a review yet because I'm still reading a book the first book is 'Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief' by Rick Riordan. Hope you guys enjoy reading the reviews.
